There are 660 accupressure points within the human body. These are the same points described by the ancient Chinese medical procedure of Acupuncture. Stimulation of these points affects the superficial portion of the body as well as the organ associated with each meridian. These meridians are 12 energy pathways that are distributed interiorly and exteriorly over the body.

The body's vital energy, called "Qi", and blood circulate through these meridians and nourish the tissues and the organs.

The Goal of Shiatsu is to regulate the circulation of Qi and blood in the channels maintaining or restoring health and balance, Yin and Yang
